“I’ll help you, Wave.”

You guys.

My heart burst open into so many happy and proud pieces this morning.

A little background: yesterday, Waverly had a moment of not following instruction during her gymnastics class. She jumped off a vault onto a trampoline and hurt her knee. She was okay; finished out her class and wasn’t complaining of any pain.

But when she woke up this morning she was saying her knee was hurting. She wasn’t putting any pressure on her foot.

And then something happened.

Gannon took her hand and said, “I’ll help you, Wave,” and walked her to the couch. He helped her up, grabbed a pillow, and propped her legs up.

I had to look at her leg but obviously had to stop crying first. Paul thinks it is funny that I can’t help it. I have no control over the tears that fill my eyes when things like this happen.

Her knee is a little swollen today. We put some ice on it.

What a beautiful moment. What an absolutely, beautiful moment. I’m so proud of my little guy and his compassion.
